Bute County, North Carolina Court Minutes, 1767-79

 

Ordered that John Ellis be appointed Overseer of the road from Robert Callers leading to Blacks ferry as farr as the County Line, known by the Name of the old horse ford road, And that the hands of Joshua Ellis, Edward Ellis & his two Son's John & Joshua, also William Pattershall, and that henads of David Young, John Wright Sen'r, Joseph Wright, Moses Wright, Isham Jones, Mordecai Brown, Benjamin Murphy, David Towns, Develly Darnell, Alexander Holton and Thomas Glover work on and maintain the Same.

On motion, Thomas Glover and William Moseley, aged & infirms persons, are recommended to the General Assembly as persons incapable of paying Public taxes.

A Deed from Benjamin Jones Jun'r to Thomas Glover Jun'r was proved by the Oath of Benjamin Ellis a witness thereto and on motion the Same is Ordered to be Registered.

A Deed from George Walker and Eleanor his wife to Henry Glover was proved by the oath of James Egerton a witness thereto and on Motion the same is Ordered to be Registered.

Joseph Wright is appointed Overseer of the road from Robinson's road to the Country Line near Blacks ferry, and Ordered that he keep the same in repair with the hands of Henry Sturdivant, Henry Fitz, James Wright, Jesse Wright, William Pattershall, Travis Rees, John Pope, Anthony Richard Ballard, Joseph Pattershall, Benjamin Ellis, David Towns, Thomas Glover, Richard Sturivant.

Philemon Hawkins Esq'r acknowledged a Deed to Thomas Glover and Delia the wife of the said Philemon being privately Examined by Philip Burford Esq'r appointed by the Court for that Purpose relinquished her right of Dower in the said Land Conveyed, and on Motion the same is ordered to be Registered.

 

A Deed from Henry Glover and Sarah his wife to Samuel Walker was proved by the oath of Alexander Burnham a witness hereto, and on Motion the same is Ordered to be registered.

A Deed from Thomas Glover to John Hastings was proved by the oath of Page Coleman a witness thereto and on Motion the same is Ordered to be registered.
